Last week we all enjoyed trying on our costumes for the Christmas Play.

The children have been rehearsing the songs and their lines. We have made sure that every child has a part and a line. They are only 3 and just 4 so nothing to hard to learn. We are just enabling them to all build their confidence in having a go and performing on a stage. We are already so proud of all of them for being so resilient and trying their hardest.

We have been learning the songs for our Christmas nativity.

All the children are enjoying having a go at practicing some lines...

We have some great performers.

This week we have had another fun week.

We enjoyed our Balancability obstacle course on Monday

The children are all having a go at the obstacle course and are learning to balance.

We all talked about and discussed

World Kindness Day

We also joined the school assesmbly where we celebrated

Anti Bullying Week

We all had a go at looking in the mirror and talking about what we see and how we are all the same but different.

The children all divided themselves into groups. We had a blonde hair group, a brown hair group, a black hair group, the children also identified different skin colours, eyes, gender and so on. They had lots of fun looking for similarities and differences.

We enjoyed colouring Pudsey Bear

The children had a go at colouring his spots in and drawing spots on his body.

We watched Pudsey Bear on the white board and they all had a

great time dancing along with him. We discussed the meaning of Children in Need and why we collect money to help those in need that are less fortunate then ourselves.

We also had a Children in Need picnic with Pudsey Bear

We continue to explore the nursery environment and have lots and lots of fun.

We look forward to seeing you next week.

Parents Evening on

Tuesday 21st and Thursday 23rd November.

Last week was an eventful week. Whilst Mrs.Ingram was unwell we had two visiting teachers. They both commented on how friendly the children all were.

We celebrated ‘Remembrance Day’ and explained that on this day we remember all the people who gave their lives during the two World Wars. The children used pastels to make their own observational drawings of a ‘Poppy’. Please come and have a look at their wonderful work..

We used the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears as an introduction into size and gave the children objects to order by size.

We also used the Three Little Pigs story to discuss building materials and then other different types of materials in our environment.

Thank you to everyone who brought in the home learning task from half term. They are now all on display and are all creatively original.

The afternoon children enjoyed watching their siblings and family members during the cross country run that took place at Brookmans Park School. We cheered everyone, enjoyed watching all the different teams compete and subsequently celebrated their successes in assembly.

Now that most of our Little Gems are able to put their own coats on, we now need to teach them to do their own zips up. Please help your children at home to have a go at both independently. If they are unable to place the zip in position please do so for them and then encourage them to pull the zip up as well as pull the zip down, and take their coat off independently. If the coat has poppers on please encourage them to have a go at them.

Thank you everyone for bringing in your money for our Story Tent visitor who is due to come in December.

We have secured an Entertainer for our ‘Fun Day’ on the 18th of December whilst the rest of the school are at the Pantomime. The entertainer is one of the mums from Reception Class who is a Music Teacher and has already had a session with our children last year. The children thoroughly enjoyed it as it’s a musical session where the children all have a go at making music using an array of instruments. We are also very lucky to be able to be given some money to buy our very own musical instruments used with the entertainer for the children to enjoy at their own leisure. Any parents, grandparent’s or family members welcome to come and join us if they so wish too including the younger siblings. Please remember that any children who do not usually attend a Monday afternoon can do so free of charge and the children who are already booked in will be credited the afternoon.

Week 7

This week in Little Gems we joined in with the whole school assembly for the

Harvest Festival.

All the nursery children were so well behaved and listened attentively.

We will definitely be invited again to join in with the school assembly after half term.

We would like to say a big Thank you to Catherine’s mum who came in and read some Halloween stories to our Little Gems, she even taught the children a new Halloween song and we have been practicing it since.

We would also like to say congratulations to Lily, her Mum, Dad and Grandparents on the arrival of Lily’s baby sister.

We also welcome Rayan and his family including his new little baby brother to Brookmans Park and Brookmans Park School.

This week we did colour mixing, we mixed red and yellow to make orange for our Halloween pumpkins. The children then decorated the pumpkins using different shapes.

We explored using our senses and experimented with different tools on real pumpkins too.

Little Gems enjoyed their colour walk around the school. We had so much fun looking out for different colours in the environment.

We celebrated Diwali

The children made some colourful and glittery pictures, and coloured in some Henna and Rangoli pictures and some were even brave to taste some poppadums and mango chutney.

We also enjoyed our first Nursery Party…

We decorated pumpkin biscuits as well as making our own sandwich for our party.

We enjoyed dancing to the music and playing games.

The children looked great in their different fancy dress outfits.

We have set a Home Learning Task for over the Half term Break.

We have been exploring colour in our environment and have gone on a colour walk around the school. Over the holidays could you please either take pictures of different things when out and about or draw and colour in your own picture.

For example, a red post box, green grass, black car, yellow ball and so on ….

The idea is that the children are observational in their environment and they practice   recognising colour around us. You could also find things In the home.

Please include any siblings in the activity and make it a fun exercise for all the

family.

What a great end to a fun filled and busy first half term.

All our Little Gems have settled in so well and we are already looking forward to having them back after the half term.

Thank you once again for all your support

Please enjoy your Break!

Week 5

This week in Little Gems we have had some great visitors.

We have had the Potters Bar firefighters come in.

We had such a great time using the water hose and we all had a go at pretending to put out fires.

Before the firefighters arrived we all had a go at putting our puddle suits on and our wellies.

We were then able to jump in the muddy puddles we made with the water from the fire truck.

Mrs Ingram got dressed up in a Firefighter’s outfit! This was very funny. She called herself Fireman Rob

We also had a visit from the Police. We had two female officers and one male officer visit us. We were all able to have a go wearing their police jacket as well as wearing a hat. We discussed how to keep safe on the roads when crossing, or in our cars. We even called on the police radio and spoke to another police officer looking after the office in case they needed back up help.

We then all had a go at sitting in the police car and some were even brave enough to sound the siren.

This week we took part in a P.E lesson in the hall. We had so much fun practicing to slither, hop, jump, and shuffle

and much much more.

We have also finished our family trees and family books so please come in and have a look.

The children have continued to explore their classroom environment indoors and outdoors.

Could we please ask all parents to bring in any recyclable materials that we could use for our junk modelling area. The children have all been busy making things and our stock is low.

We are all very excited for our Trip to the Village next

Thursday the 12th of October

Sorry for any confusion with the dates.

Thank you to the parents that have volunteered to come so far, don’t forget the more the merrier so please let us know if you can come.

Thank you.

We have enjoyed an Autumn story in our new auditorium in key stage 2 playground.

We have also tried out our new Astro turf. We had so much fun running from colour to colour and moving ourselves about in different ways..

Favourite nursery rhymes are on display, and all of our favourite stories are on our Reading Tree wall.

Could we please ask you to send in your child's favourite story book so we can read these in nursery. Thank you.

Week 3

Another great week in Little Gems Nursery.

The children  all had fun on our Autumn walk. They walked around the school grounds collecting Autumn objects they could find. We mostly found leaves...

We hope you were able to collect autumn objects over the weekend for our

Autumn Display .

We have had a lot of fun painting our portraits with Mrs Magdich.

Please come and see them in our classroom.

We have also enjoyed making our portraits using play dough and at the end

of the week we made our portraits using icing on biscuits.

We have also started to make our family trees as well as our family books. the children are enjoying talking about all their family members including their pets.

We have sadly had to remove our much loved sand tray.

Due to Health and Safety it was deemed unsafe as the sand was getting too wet therefore unsafe to use. We will have standard sand trays available as a replacement.

The children enjoyed helping wash the outside area when the tray was removed.

Please enjoy below some pictures of our fun filled week.

Brookmans Park School  has celebrated Cultural Arts Week

Little Gems Celebrated with the rest of the school and had lots of exciting and interesting things to do.

Nursery and Reception classes had a swap over day on Wednesday.

During Arts Cultural Week

Little Gems went into the Reception class, where they completed some sports day activities. These included hopping races, balancing quoits on their heads and skipping. The children all enjoyed racing and taking turns.

We also watched a video of the Rainbow fish story.

They then discussed the different emotions that the Rainbow fish may have been feeling during different parts of the story. They then had a go at making up a dance in their groups which showed how the fish was feeling.

Both Reception classes spent 45 minutes in the Nursery Classroom they learnt a senses song all about the seaside. They all had a go at making up their own poems and writing them out. All together we all sang the rhyming soup game and thought of lots of words that rhyme with seaside words.

Little Gems Visitor

 Anna's Animals

All the children had a go at touching and holding some of the minIbeats and the animals.

Some children particularly enjoyed holding the snakes and the bunny rabbit.

Thank you all for your contribution to make this happen.
